International Workshop on Linear profiling in the Warmblood Horse
To strengthen the exchange and collaboration of science and practice across countries and studbooks, a new series of meetings on linear profiling in the Warmblood horses had been established in 2013. The meetings are arranged by the international working group on linear profiling, linked to the Horse Commission of the European Federation of Animal Science and its permanent working group Interstallion.
Starting with a rather small, though already international group of representatives from studbooks and science at the first meeting, the event has attracted in subsequent years about 50 people and more from multiple countries. Everybody who has participated once, is likely to join the meeting again - although possibly not every year.
Conference material is provided below by event and in the form of pdf files for free download. In case you wish to refer to any of the conference papers, we kindly ask you to clearly indicate the source and consider the copyright. Only then we can continue with providing such comprehensive information material this way.
7. International Workshop on Linear Profiling in the Warmblood Horse on 29-30 March 2023 in Plön and Grebin, Germany
The program provides an overview of the course of the meeting.
After a break of 3 years, the response to the meeting anouncement for spring 2023 has been enormous: Finally, a group of 63 interested people from 16 countries has met in the very North of Germany, referred to as 'Holsteinische Schweiz'. Everybody was highly motivated to exchange experiences, learn from each other and get some impulses for own future activities in the field of linear profiling and beyond. Once more we could experience in which pleasant atmosphere and with which openness exchange on technical and practical topics took place. It was very obvious that the common interest in topics important for horse breeding today and in the future was leading and shaping the two days. And thanks to the gorgeous team of Gut Schönweide, the participants have found ideal conditions for the practical part and the learning experience next to the horse, and were delighted to see how horse keeping in perfection may look like.
Please find below the report with some information on the discussed topics and results and the material referring to what has been presented in the two days of the event.

6. International Workshop on Linear Profiling in the Warmblood Horse: Video conference on 25 March 2020
Change of the workshop format with independent organization of theoretical sessions - as video conference - in spring 2020 allowed continuing the annual sequence of international meetings on linear profiling in the horse. The practical sessions, especially valued by representatives of studbooks with less experience in linear data collection, were supposed to follow later as Part II of the 6th IWSLP. However, planning to meet in a larger group of people continued to be difficult to impossible. Therefore, part II was finally skipped.
The program provides an overview of the course of the meeting. The video conference has been recorded in complete length, so everybody interested in the status quo of linear profiling in different studbooks, experiences with collection and use of linear data on foals and recent developments to better support breeding decisions is invited to watch the recording. In addition, the handouts of the presentations are made available as in previous years; please find below the material for free download.
